Student Spotlight: Michael Arens

The Williams College of Business Student Spotlight Series highlights student achievement. These outstanding WCB students have been nominated by classmates, staff and faculty and each of them embody what it means to be a Musketeer. Please follow this series with us and take time to congratulate these special students. Contact the WCB Social Team if you’d like to nominate someone you know!
This week’s student spotlight is Michael Arens. Michael is a Senior Entrepreneurial Studies major from St. Louis, MO who graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School. Michael chose Xavier because he wanted to continue his education with a Jesuit institution. Arens is a Sedler Center, Entre Club, and Innovation Club member and Captain of the club ice hockey team. During his time at Xavier, Arens co-founded a startup, Clean Earth Rovers, with a fellow WCB classmate. Together they have created an autonomous, solar powered amphibious vehicle that picks plastic waste in our waterways and collects it to be recycled; he plans to continue work on this after graduation. Michael says the most impactful thing at Xavier has been the community and fellowship, and says he has met some of his closest friends through activities, engagement and classes. His advice to current and future Musketeers? “Don’t waste any time waiting to do something you love. If you are passionate about something take small steps towards that each day.” To learn more about Clean Earth Rovers, visit https://www.cleanearthrovers.com/
